The European Fencing Confederation and International Charitable Foundation “For future of fencing” will financially support the organizers and participants of refereeing exams and seminars for athletes and coaches

Dear friends of fencing, dear leaders of the fencing federations of Europe!

During May 3-5 of 2006, before the “Foil of Saint-Petersburg” international ladies world cup competition, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) will organize continental refereeing exams in Saint-Petersburg. I am extremely pleased to announce that the European Fencing Confederation (EFC) has decided to render financial support to all the candidates representing European National Federations who will participate in the exam for a corresponding refereeing category. The goal of this action is to assist the development of European fencing through improvement of one of its key aspects - refereeing.

All the exam participants will receive grants: every candidate from Russia – up to ˆ 200, and every candidate from the rest of Europe – up to ˆ 350. The organizing Federation will receive financial support at the amount of ˆ 3000.

With regards to the next two refereeing exams – in Turkey and in Belgium, those European candidates who will successfully pass the exams, will be fully reimbursed for their expenses. Detailed information about this program and the system of reimbursement will be placed on the EFC web-site or communicated through a letter to be sent out to all the European National Federations.

All the funds for this program will be allocated from the EFC Refereeing Commission budget.

Moreover, with the purpose of increasing the qualification of European coaches, the decision has been taken to organise the series of training seminars. The first will be organised from May 26-31 in Moscow, at “Novogorsk” Olympic training base.

nvitations for participation in the seminar have already been sent out to the National Federations of Austria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belorus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Holland, Denmark, Israel, Ireland, Iceland, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Norway, Portugal, San-Marino, Serbia & Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland, Croatia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden and Estonia.

All the expenses of the participants of this seminar will be paid by the International charitable foundation “For future of fencing”. That will let to provide the participation of coaches from more than thirty states of Europe, who really need to develop the professional level of their coaches.

EFC is also planning to conduct the series of training camps for the representatives of developing European fencing states – within the framework of preparing for the continental Championships as well as for this year’s World Championships – and to continue this experience extending it in 2007. The camps are planned to be conducted on the base of “Prague-Lyetnyany” fencing centre, which had been reconstructed with the participation of the East-European branch of the Foundation “For future of fencing” (Director – Foundation Board-member Mr. Frantisek JANDA, Czech Republic) and is open now for exchange of experience between the fencers from all-over the world.

Detailed plans of joint undertakings and actions of EFC and Foundation “For future of fencing”, which will be organised on the base of “Prague-Lyetnyany” centre, will be communicated through the EFC web-site or an information letter to be sent out to all  European National Federations.
