European Fencing Confederation

Confédération Européenne d’Escrime

                 23.10.2006

Information Letter no. 25-2006

Dear Member Federations,

according a decision of the Executive Committee of our confederation

please be informed that the upcoming European Junior Championships

in Poznan will still be organised under the same rules as before and will

not be considered as a championship under the new rules of the FIE as

decided in Doha. It was agreed to follow this rule only as per our European

Senior Championships 2007 in Gent (BEL).

We also propose to you to be prepared to pay the entry fee for both the

Individual and Team Championships (EUR 8,00 per entry), as we are right

now not in a position to guarantee that the EFC/CEE will delete this

obligation like last year in Tapolca.

We also want to highlite the problem of referees. According the actual rules

(article 7 of the rules for the European Championships) you are obliged to

bring the following number of referees:

1 or 2 fencers: no obligation

3 to 4 fencers: 1 referee

5 and more fencers: 2 referees.

The FIE had meanwhile asked 12 referees of different federations whether

they are free to work in Poznan. We do not know the answers – but we know

they were not yet officially invited to work.

You can bring those referees with your teams, if the above rules are

applicable for you.

We apologize for this late information – but we want to avoid that you have a wrong information.

Please inform the responsible people in your federation accordingly.

With my best regards,

Secretary General

Max W.F. Geuter
