The 2nd European Masters Games in Lignano-Sabbiadoro, after their first edition in Malmö 2008, gathering around 4000 athletes from Europe and some ex-European countries, include this year also our sport FENCING, and nearly 200 fencers registered in 4 categories: 30+ - 40+ - 50+ - and 60+.
The first day with men’s sabre and women’s foil documented the strong participation of Italy and Russia.Italy captured already 5 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals, whereas Russia won 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, followed by Germany with one gold medal.
The fencing competition is well organised by the Friuli Fencing Division, with its president Paolo Menis, supervised by Giuseppe Cafiero from the Italian Federation.
