The fencing competition “Sparkassen-Cup” is a very traditional tournament in Tauberbischfosheim so more than 160 fencers came to the „Mecca of Fencing” in the South of Germany. 17 nations from all over Europe and even from Singapore took part in this very European Cadet Circuit to win the famous trophy at Tauberbischofsheim.
More than 600 spectators saw exciting matches. The sixteen year old French favorite Eva Lacheray fenced against the Russian Adelina Bikbulatova in the first Semifinal. Lacheray came back from the Senior World Cup at St. Maur last week with a Top 16 result, and made a run which put her in the top position. But Bikbulatova showed a great perfomance and fought into the finals against her Russian teammate Anna Udovichenko. Udovichenko has had a hard fight in the Seminfinal against Anca Sauveanu from Romania. Udovichenko seemed to win the final match but her teammate caught up to 14:14 before Anna Udovichenko made the
last hit at the beautiful setting for the semifinals in the fencing center in Tauberbischofsheim. The Russian followed champion Sylvie Binder from the United States who won the “Sparkassen-Cup” twice.
The well organized competition ended with the traditional winners party. The next stop in the cadet circuit is Cabries, France in two weeks.
