On the last day of the European Cadet Championship in Klagenfurt, the last two teams competition took place. The women's saber (10 teams) was once again dominated by Italy, whereas the men's foil (16 teams) controlled Russia.

The final match in the women's saber competition was at first in the hands of Hungarian fencers until Martina Criscio (ITA) faced Renta Katona (HUN) beated her 11:3, which returned Italy back to the game. After this bout, the match remained under Italian control and finished with score 45:41 for Italy.

The same exciting progress has the final match in the men's foil competition where Italy unsuccessfully faced Russia. Bout after bout the score flow over from one side to another and in the end it looked that Italy would have gained all the gold medals from the teams competitions, but then in the one of the last bouts Alexander Pivovarov (RUS) outscored Damiano Rosatelli (ITA) 9:1 and his teammate Ilya Degtyarev just had to defend the lead, in which he succeeded. Thus Russia gained the last remaining gold medal in the teams competition, wrested it from the hands of Italy in the last minute.
