The second day of the final matches brought us men's epee full of surprises and women's saber with finalists as ususal.

Men's epee was the largest competition of the championship counting 214 fencers the best 64 fought in the Palaghiaccio arena fot the title of champion. All the best fencers from the world fencing elite kept an eye on the medals however the progress of the competition showed us different results. Four top ranked fencers of the world were eliminated in the first two rounds. For Gabor Boczko (HUN) Gauthier Grumier (FRA) Matteo Tagliariol (ITA) and Joerg Fiedler (GER) the competition ended a way earlier then they expected.

Nevertheless the Men's epee competition presented another Italian champion a Sicilian fencer Paolo Pizzo that was thanks to his victory launched to the top of the world ranking.

Paolo Pizzo handled Fabian Kauter in the semifinal match and left Bas Verwijlen with the silver defeating him 15:13 in a breathtaking final.

Women's saber was the first event not under control of the Italians. Only Irene Vecchi (ITA) found her way to quarter final. The final match performed Sophia Velikaia (RUS) against Mariel Zagunis (USA). Bronze medals took Olga Kharlan (UKR) and Julia Gavrilova (RUS). With another athlete in the final eight (Ekaterina Diatchenko) Russia became the most successful nation of the women's saber.
