The new is the old European Champion in women’s foil team competition. Valentina Vezzali, Elisa Di Francisca, Arianna Errigo and substitute Ilaria Salvatori from Italy beat host country Germany with Katja Wächter,Carolin Golubytskyi, Sandra Bingenheimer and substitute Martina Zacke in the final of the European Fencing Championships in Leizig (45:26). Early in the match it was clear that there was no real chance for the German fencers.
The women’s foil team from Russia brought its country the 8th medal of this European Championships. The vice champion of Plovdiv 2009 won the bronze medal match against Poland with the tiny little advance of one hit (30:29).
