The second gold of the fourth day of the European Fencing Championships in Leizig went to Italy, too. A few minutes after the victory of the Italian women’s foil team the men’s sabre team convinced against the fencers of the Ukraine. Luigi Tarantino, Aldo Montano, Luigi Samele and substitute Diego Occhiuzzi defended a comfortable lead against Andriy Yagodka, Dmytro Boyko, Oleg Shturbabin from the beginning. At least it was a clear 45:28 victory for the defending champion.
Also, there was another medal for the host country. Germany beat Russia with 45:38 in the "small final". Therefore Nicolas Limbach, Björn Hübner, Benedikt Bingenheimer and substitute Max Hartung had a chance to introduce a bronze medal to the German audience.
