Stanislav Pozdnyakov has won a total of ten titles as World-champion; five team and five individual medals. He also has won five silver and two bronze medals from the World Championships. Pozdnyakov is one of the most successful Olympic fencers of all times. At the 1992 Games in Barcelona he took gold as a member of the U.S.S.R. Nations team. Team captain in 1996 he lead his team to gold and gained himself the gold in the individual event. In 2000 he added another team-gold and in 2004 his impressive palmares was enriched with a bronze medal in team won over the U.S.A.
After 2008 Games in Beijing Stanislav retired from active fencing and was subsequently elected to the Boards of the European Fencing Confederation and International Fencing Federation in 2008 and in 2012 respectively. In 2016 he was elected President of the EFC and First Vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee.
