European Fencing Confederation honours referees of the 2024/2025 season
On 17 September 2025, the European Fencing Confederation announced the recipients of the Referees Award for the 2024/2025 season. Following the evaluation conducted by the Referees Commission and confirmed by the Executive Committee, three referees in each weapon were distinguished for their outstanding contribution, professionalism, and consistency on the piste.
Foil Recognition
In foil, the honours went to Pavol Celler of Slovakia, Miguel Machado of Portugal, and Jaroslaw Mojski of Poland. Their work throughout the season reflected precision, fairness, and commitment to maintaining the highest standards in officiating.
Epee Recognition
The épée referees recognised were Mirna Borosak from Croatia, Efstathios Gerossideris from Greece, and Lazarina Petkova from Bulgaria. Their ability to manage high-level competitions with calm authority and clarity has been a key factor in their nomination.
Sabre Recognition
In sabre, the awards were presented to Ignacio Casares of Spain, Adrienn Piecs of Hungary, and Vincenzo Costanzo of Italy. Their dedication to the sport and the quality of their refereeing ensured smooth and fair competition across the season.
Commitment to Fair Play
President Pascal Tesch emphasized the significance of referees in upholding the values of fencing and ensuring equal treatment for all athletes. The awards not only recognize individual excellence but also highlight the pivotal role referees play in the development and integrity of European fencing.
