Epee Competitions to close the Championships in Torun
The last three days of the World Fencing Championships of Cadets and Juniors were committed to epee competitions, starting with individual juniors events.
In men's epee Philippe artur (FRA) gained the title of champion by defeating Di Veroli Davide (ITA) in the final. Di Veroli faced his teammate Buzzacchino Gianpaolo in the semifinal, whereas Philippe defeated Hasanov Ruslan (AZE).
Italians controlled the women's epee competition claiming gold and silver with Isola Federica reaching the top, leaving Traditi Gaya with silver. Kim Sieun (KOR) and Candreva Greta (USA) took bronze.
Cadet's competitions started with women's epee which allowed Muhari Eszter (HUN) to repeat her success from European Cadets Championship. Caforio Gaia (ITA) that was defeated by Muhari in the final, took out Janelli Zofia (POL) in the semifinal. Muhari defeated Buki Lili (HUN) in the second semifinal.
In cadet's men's epee, Italians once again ruled, taking gold and silver with Piatti Enrico and Remondini Dario, leaving Gurov Kirill (RUS) with silver and Heinamaa Akseli (FIN) with bronze.
The team's events closed the championships with Hungary claiming gold in men's event, followed by the USA and France tooking out Russian in the third place fence-off. Women's epee ended with France reaching the top, defeating Russia in the final, leaving Switzerland to fence an eventually victorious fight against the USA in the bronze medal match.
