A Weekend of Standout Performances in Eislingen, Varna and Laupheim
EISLINGEN: A THRILLING SABRE SHOWCASE
Eislingen once again delivered the classic intensity of the Cadet Sabre Circuit, with the piste action matching the electric atmosphere in the venue. In men’s sabre, Devyn Anthony of the United States claimed the top of the podium after a sharp and confident performance, finishing ahead of Italy’s Christian Avaltroni, while the bronze places were shared by Semeon Ermakov and Ethan Kim, both representing the United States.
In the women’s field, Singapore celebrated gold thanks to the precise and dynamic fencing of Shuhan Yang, who overcame Germany’s Viktoria Voytova in a highly tactical final. Italy’s Anna Torre secured one of the bronze medals, with Hungary’s KincsĹ‘ Anna Bacskay taking the second.
Team events confirmed the depth of the field: the United States dominated the men’s competition with their first and third squads securing gold and silver, while Italy completed the podium. In the women’s teams, Italy celebrated a strong victory, followed by USA 2, with another USA lineup closing the medal positions.

VARNA: U14 TALENTS TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT
The youngest competitors of the weekend showed remarkable determination in Varna, where Bulgaria hosted the U14 Epee Circuit. In the boys’ competition, the home crowd celebrated as Simeon Serev took gold for Bulgaria, defeating Romania’s Ianni Rusu in the final. The bronze medals stayed within the region, with Romania’s Stefan Catalinoiu and Bulgaria’s Boris Dobrev stepping onto the podium.
The girls’ event saw another Bulgarian triumph, as Iva Stoyanova secured the top place with a composed and authoritative performance. Great Britain’s Jagoda Zegan captured silver, while Romania added two more medals through Carina Denisa Belu and Cristiana Ionascu Lascu.

LAUPHEIM: U23 EPEE DELIVERS HIGH-LEVEL FENCING
Laupheim offered a remarkable display of rising European epee stars as the U23 Circuit unfolded. In the men’s event, Sweden celebrated Christopher Kelly’s victory after he overcame Ukraine’s Roman Samoilov in a tense final. The bronze medals were claimed by Ukraine’s Arsenii Karapysh and Belgium’s Finian Reijnaers, each showing strong tactical maturity.
The women’s competition brought a Ukrainian double at the top, with Mariia Sereda capturing gold ahead of Polina Spyridonova. The podium was completed by Adela Bartosková representing Czechia and Germany’s Eva Steffens, both earning well-deserved bronze.
Team events emphasised depth and collective strength. In the men’s category, Ukraine achieved a remarkable full sweep: the Ukrainian first team—Maksym Mykytenko, Maksym Perchuk, Maksym Gula and Arsenii Karapysh—struck gold, followed by Ukraine 2 with Andriy Opanasenko, Roman Samoilov, Vladyslav Nazarevych and Andrii Polianskyi. Ukraine 3, featuring Dmytro Plaksin, Denys Lavrentiev, Arsenii Prokofiev and Andrii Skok, secured bronze to complete an all-Ukrainian podium.
In the women’s teams, Germany took gold through the united efforts of Eva Steffens, Mia Lebrenz, Daria Yoosefi and Cagla Aytekin. Ukraine continued its strong presence, with Ukraine 3—Kateryna Korotetska, Sofiia Sidenko and Oleksandra Romanova—earning silver, while the Ukrainian lineup of Mariia Sereda, Mira Yousef, Ustina Ohon and Yuliia Fatula finished with bronze.
