FENCING ANNOUNCED AS PART OF THE THIRD EUROPEAN GAMES PROGRAM
European Olympic Committees Confirm Fencing on the List of Sports for Krakow-Malopolska.
Fencing has been incorporated into the preliminary list of sports seen as essential part of the European Games third edition. The news came after the EOC Board meeting held in Rome end of last week. The event is to take place in the Polish region of Krakow-Malopolska in summer, 2023.
Fencing is one of the 23 sports set to highlight the European top-sporting-event and obtain an unprecedented promotion and support from the EOC and organizers.
Further actions are subject to a series of consultations between the EOC, the EFC and the FIE, and Local Organizing Committee.
Following the announcement EFC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov said, “The EOC decision meets our aspirations and I congratulate National Federations and entire European fencing Family on this occasion. We initiate the necessary preparations without delay – to efficiently work on and consider all the aspects to maximize this great opportunity.”
Fencing was on the schedule at the first European Games in Baku in 2015, which was not the case at second edition of European Games in Minsk in 2019.
