Fencing Weekend Highlights: Results from Copenhagen, Laupheim, and Sabadell

The past weekend was an exciting chapter in the European Fencing Confederation’s season, with three high-profile tournaments showcasing the talent and determination of fencers across Europe. From the Cadet Circuit in Copenhagen to the Uhlmann-Cup in Laupheim and the FFE Circuit in Sabadell, young athletes demonstrated exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
Copenhagen Cadet Circuit
In Copenhagen, cadet fencers competed in individual and team epee events, attracting participants from across the globe. Among the highlights, Doruk Erolcevik of Turkey claimed gold in the men’s individual epee, overcoming a strong challenge from France’s Thomas Gauliard, who took silver. The podium was completed by Haoxuan Yang from Hong Kong and Tristan Hofsommer of Germany, both sharing bronze.
The women’s individual epee event was dominated by Sweden’s Linnea Eriksson, who secured gold, while Romania’s Natalia Constantin earned silver. The bronze medals were awarded to Ukraine’s Polina Spyrydonova and Serbia’s Magdalena Cika.
In team competitions, France clinched victory in the men’s team epee, followed by Sweden in second place and Greece in third. The women’s team epee event saw Ukraine take the top spot, with Romania as runners-up and Estonia rounding out the podium in third.

Uhlmann-Cup in Laupheim
As part of the “Fencing for Everyone” initiative, the Uhlmann-Cup brought U23 epee talents to Laupheim. France’s Nolan Wingerter triumphed in the men’s individual event, defeating Israel’s Alon Sarid in the final. Bronze medals went to Rahim Rashaida of Bulgaria and Jose Miguel Martin Gamazo of Spain.
In the women’s individual epee, Ukraine’s Anna Maksymenko showcased her dominance, taking gold ahead of Israel’s Alexandra Kravets, who claimed silver. Sweden’s Louise Ulltjarn and Austria’s Lena Chevaux shared the bronze medal honors.
The men’s team epee competition was fiercely contested, with Spain securing gold, Israel taking silver, and Estonia finishing third. Ukraine emerged victorious in the women’s team epee event, followed by Lithuania in second place and Spain in third.

FFE Circuit in Sabadell
The vibrant city of Sabadell hosted the FFE Circuit, highlighting the artistry of foil fencing in the U23 category. France showcased its depth in the men’s individual foil, with Adrien Helmy-Cocoynacq claiming the gold medal. His compatriot Louis Pradel earned silver, while Guillaume Watson and Hugo Valiere, also from France, shared bronze.
Germany’s Finja Malu Herwig excelled in the women’s individual foil, securing gold ahead of France’s Emily Parra, who earned silver. The bronze medals went to France’s Elsa Gargne and Emmie Nayl.
France’s dominance extended to the team events, where they took gold in both the men’s and women’s foil competitions. Great Britain finished second in the men’s event, with Israel securing third. In the women’s event, Spain claimed silver, with Great Britain earning bronze.
