FRANCE CLAIM SECOND EUROPEAN TITLE ON LAST DAY WITH MEN’S TEAM FOIL GOLD

U23 MEN’S TEAM FOIL REPORT
France claimed their second European title of the day in the Men’s Team Foil competition – the closing event of the fantastic U23 Championships in Tallinn, Estonia.
Lining up with Tyvan Bibard, Constant Roger, Rafael Savin and Armand Spichiger France were seeded second and had a bye through the round of 16. They made the gold medal match with victories over Israel 45-29 and Hungary 45-36.
In the other half of the draw saw Germany edged Poland 44-43 for their place in the gold medal. Poland (Maciej Bem, Piotr Borowiec, Jan Jurkiewicz and Mateusz Kozak) claimed bronze by beating Hungary 45-32.
Germany started the gold medal match with Nils Fabinger, Luis Klein and Moritz Renner with Laurenz Rieger in reserve whilst France began with Roger on the bench. The French got off to a blistering start to lead 15-5 after three bouts increasing it to 30-18 after the middle three fights. They went on to take the final European title of the Championships 45-30.
