In the other half of the draw, third seeds Italy – Rosella Fiamingo, Fedrica Isola, Mara Navarria and Alberta Santuccio dominated against Switzerland in their semi-final, making the final with a 45-32 victory.
Losing semi-finalists, Urkaine (Inna Brovko, Vlada Kharkova, Yana Shamyakina and Yuliya Svystil) and Switzerland (Pauline Brunner Angeline Favre, Naomi Moeschlin and Laura Staehli) faced each other in the bronze medal play-off. Ukraine prevailed after an incredibly tight match 45-42 to make the podium.
France edged the first third of the final 9-7 against Italy and pulled away in the middle of the match to lead 22-14. Fireworks ensued in the final leg as Fiamingo came on for Italy against Mallo trailing 34-16. Fiamingo went on an amazing run, scoring fourteen hits but it was not enough as France won 43-30 on time.
