From Basel to the European Youth Fencing Festival
Competition
Following the resounding success of the senior European Fencing Championships in Basel, where athletes from across the continent showcased their prowess and sportsmanship, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizers, the host city, participants and spectators who made the event unforgettable. As we now turn our gaze towards the upcoming Olympics, we are excited to announce a significant precursor event: the European Youth Fencing Festival.
Set to take place from June 28-30, 2024, this festival marks the culmination of the season’s Under-14 Circuit.. It promises to be a celebration of sport, camaraderie and the future stars of European fencing. Unlike traditional tournaments, the festival emphasizes not just competition but also the spirit of unity and joy, fostering an environment where young fencers from diverse backgrounds can come together and share their passion.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for the evening of June 29, will be a memorable highlight. All participants will proudly march together, blending national identities in a unified display of the sport's inclusive nature. Thanks to our generous sponsor, each young athlete will receive a commemorative t-shirt, and a special photo session will capture this unique moment for both the participants and their families.
Coinciding with the excitement surrounding Paris 2024, the festival serves as a crucial step in the journey of these young athletes, closing the current Olympic cycle and opening new horizons for the future. It's an opportunity for technical exchange and personal growth, particularly benefiting the medium and small federations within the European fencing community.
The European Youth Fencing Festival is more than a competition; it's a message of hope and a commitment to fostering a culture of exchange, integration, and mutual understanding among the young generations who will shape the future of our sport and continent. We look forward to welcoming the champions of tomorrow and celebrating their potential in this vibrant festival of fencing.
