The fifth day of the Olympic Games in Paris witnessed intense and thrilling action in the Men's Sabre Team competition, culminating in a captivating final that kept fencing enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.

Hungary, the reigning World Champion, demonstrated why they are a force to be reckoned with on the world stage. After a challenging semifinal bout against Iran, where they narrowly secured victory with a 45-43 scoreline, the Hungarian team advanced to the finals. This semifinal clash was particularly intense, as Iran had previously stunned the United States with a remarkable 45-44 win in the quarterfinals, highlighting their strength and determination.

In the final, Hungary faced Korea, the recently crowned individual Olympic champion Oh Sang-uk's team. The final match featured a high-stakes duel between two fencing giants: Hungary's Áron Szilágyi, a legendary figure in the sport with three Olympic gold medals, and Korea's Oh Sang-uk, fresh from his victory in the individual event. Despite a valiant effort from Szilágyi and his team, Korea managed to maintain their lead, ultimately clinching the gold medal.

The host nation, France, also delivered a commendable performance, finishing in third place. The French team, buoyed by the home crowd's support, showcased their skill and determination throughout the tournament. This result adds to a promising showing by French fencers at these Games, underscoring their position as one of Europe's leading fencing nations.

As we celebrate the achievements of our European fencers, we eagerly anticipate tomorrow's events, particularly the Women's Foil Team competition. This event promises to bring more excitement and displays of exceptional skill as European athletes continue to strive for Olympic glory.
