THE EFC ANNOUCES COMPETITION SUSPENSION

COVID-19 RESPONSE TO AFFECT EFC COMPETITION SCHEDULE
In light of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) declaration that the global spread of Covid-19 has now made it a “pandemic” and the FIE’s decision to temporarily postpone its event schedule, the European Fencing Confederation (EFC) has also suspended its competition schedule for the next 30 days.
As a result, the following events have been cancelled in consultation with the organizers:
U23 Sabre Strasbourg postponed to new dates: 2 - 3 May 2020
U14 Sofia 14 – 15 March
U14 Sabre Ciudad Real 21 March
U23 Foil Brno 21 – 22 March: Definitely cancelled
U23 Epee Gliwice 28 – 29 March
U14 Epee Osijek 28 – 29 March
U23 Epee Warsaw 28 – 29 March
U23 Foil Goeppingen 28 – 29 March
U23 Epee Lausanne 4 – 5 April
U14 Epee, Foil & Sabre Antalya 4 – 12 April
U23 Epee 25 - 26 April Tata: cancelled
U23 Foil 25 - 26 Budapest: cancelled
Coupe d´Europe, Epee 18 April Caserta: cancelled
European Championships U23, 27 - 31 May in Liberec: postponed, new date TBD
U14 Epee Kaunas 9-10 May: cancelled
European senior Championships, 16 - 21 in Minsk: postponed, new date TBD
U14 Sabre Burgas 13 - 14 June: cancelled
In addition, the Zonal Qualifier scheduled for Madrid on 18\19 April, has been postponed, pending the outcome of FIE negotiation on Olympic qualification with IOC.
With the situation constantly evolving and some countries having already established travel restrictions the EFC will provide further updates as and when necessary.
